Actors’ Studio
Founded in 1999 by
Louise Chalmers, Actors' Studio, is a group of 60
students from grades 9 - 11 who are chosen based on an
audition and interview. These 60 students work hard to
put on two plays throughout the school year. Each
student spends one half of the school year in enriched
English class while the other half they spend working as
an actor on stage or as a crew member working on the set
and learning about the technical side of the theater.
Students in this program are committed and give 10
extra-curricular hours per week, while maintaining high
English marks. With dedication and hard work in place
this program is fun for all involved while being a great
learning experience!
Improv
Many amazing performers tried out, but in the end,
twenty students from grade eight to eleven have been
chosen for John Rennie High School’s two improv teams.
Coached by Ms Chalmers and alumni Logan Boyce and Bruce
Malcolm, these teams will compete in the Quebec Improv
Games in February.
